The new EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) is the new EU framework covering all packaging placed on the EU market including the entire lifecycle, from design to waste management. The PPWR will significantly impact how organizations design, use and manage packaging within the EU, with more focus on sustainability. With the first obligations per 12 August 2026, it is important to start preparing as soon as possible. One of the first steps is determine per packaging the roles and responsibilities under the PPWR, like “manufacturer” and “Declaration of Conformity”.
