The KPMG Meijburg AI Tax Academy is an intensive, practice-oriented learning programme designed for tax professionals who want to confidently integrate Artificial Intelligence into their daily work. Across four structured sessions, participants build both foundational and advanced AI capabilities, develop practical tax-focused solutions, and leave with a fully functioning AI Tax Persona tailored to their organization’s needs.

This programme is ideal for individuals early in their AI journey, whether curious beginners or hands‑on intermediates, who want to transform AI concepts into meaningful, practical value within the tax function.

What you will learn

Generative AI concepts & foundations for Tax

  • Core building blocks such as prompts, personas, agents, RAG, transformers, embeddings, tokens, context window.
  • Strengths and limitations relevant to regulated tax environments: hallucinations, bias, consistency, explainability, model updates/drift, data leakage risk, and how to work within these boundaries.

Persona fundamentals: from idea to reliable assistant

  • Types of personas and when to use them
  • Tax‑focused persona examples
  • Linking multiple personas in one conversation with clear roles, hand‑off rules, and shared output standards.

Designing AI for real tax work

  • Use‑case identification framework which guides participants through five steps to identify the proper tax use cases where AI should and could be leveraged

Hands on persona building & refinement

  • Structured checklist for role clarity, scope boundaries, output templates, safety & error handling, and domain context.
  • Testing & troubleshooting tips to improve accuracy and resilience
  • Sprint‑based workshops: During the hands‑on sprints, participants move from creating an initial persona draft to testing and validating its behaviour, refining and troubleshooting the logic, and finally performing a full user acceptance test and final improvements.

Agentic AI & workflows (conceptual and demos)

  • Difference between personas (scoped assistants) and agents (able to coordinate tasks and use tools/APIs).
  • KPMG TACO framework (Taskers, Automators, Collaborators, Orchestrators) to think about increasing complexity and value.
  • Illustrative tax scenarios demonstrate how workflows progress from central email intake, to document parsing, through routing and automated or human‑in‑the‑loop analysis, and finally to structured storage and analytics.

Working in the KPMG Digital Gateway GenAI environment

  • Create and share personas, integrate company‑owned documents, perform real‑time research, and select from available models in a secure KPMG Azure environment.
