Single Family Offices
From owning a business to investor
The question facing you after the sale of your business or if you’ve received substantial dividend distributions is: what should I do with this capital? A Single Family Office helps you make the transition from actively doing business to strategic investment so that your capital continues working for you.
Diversification and growth
By investing in property, investment portfolios, start-ups or other businesses, you spread the risks over different sectors and regions. For example, many families create their own private equity branch and so remain involved in doing business.
Family values and continuity
A Single Family Office transfers family values to the next generations and ensures the preservation of the family assets. Clear agreements about asset management and investment choices allow families to take decisions that suit their long-term vision.
Quarterly seminars
ElEach quarter we organize exclusive seminars specifically for Single Family Offices. Three take place virtually and one is in-person. In these seminars we discuss current tax developments, new regulations and share best practices.

What is a Single Family Office?
A Single Family Office (SFO) is an organization that professionally manages the assets of an ultra-high-net-worth family. There are different types of SFOs ranging from large organizations with numerous staff to small teams with a handful of specialists. Generally, an SFO is set up when a family business generates substantial profits or is sold. The aim is diversification: from operating a business to investments in property, investment portfolios and other businesses.
How is a Single Family Office structured?
An SFO usually has a layered structure. At the top is the family, under them the holding companies and under them the various investments. In practice, we often see three main branches: the original business, a property branch and an investment or private equity branch. This structure makes it possible to invest capital in a diversified manner, while the governance and management remain centralized.
Can you only have a Single Family office?
Yes. You can have a Single Family Office without running an operating company. Many SFOs are set up after the sale of the family business – you then manage the capital from the sale via the SFO structure. In that situation, the SFO focuses fully on investments, governance, family values and estate planning without being involved in operating business activities.
