Merijn began his career at Meijburg in 2006. With nearly 20 years of experience in the field, he is now a seasoned tax specialist. Merijn specializes in ESG and is the NL Lead for ESG Tax & Legal, which encompasses KPMG's ESG sustainability services. In this role, Merijn acts as a strategic link between the ESG team, colleagues within KPMG, clients, and the international network.Merijn advises a wide range of globally operating clients in various sectors, including industry, real estate, healthcare, shipping and offshore, and startups & scaleups.He supports clients with regulatory scans and conducts impact assessments to apply regulations to clients' business operations. Merijn focuses particularly on environmental taxes in the areas of energy, CO2, water, and packaging, as well as subsidies & incentives and related topics such as the greening of employment conditions/payroll tax and fiscal transparency.Merijn's strong point as a specialist is his focus on client relationships through a proactive approach. He is proud of setting up and expanding our ESG practice and implementing a tool (including AI) for the real estate practice.Additionally, Merijn regularly publishes for NLFiscaal/WFR and has recently recorded podcasts with KPMG and the NOB.
